Kids Helping Kids is an entirely student-run, official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization from San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, California. Each year the seniors in our advanced placement economics class run the organization.
The primary goal of Kids Helping Kids is to invest in the lives of children who are in need of support. They are proud to accomplish this goal both in our community as well as abroad. There are many ways of making this happen, but the primary fundraiser takes place in the form of a signature gala.
Each year Kids Helping Kids hold a benefit concert at the world-class, multi-million dollar Granada Theater in downtown Santa Barbara featuring artists such as Tyrone Wells, Five For Fighting, Mat Kearney, Grammy Nominee Sara Bareilles, Switchfoot, Andy Grammer, and NEEDTOBREATHE. Leading up to the gala students learn the lesson of economics and finance in a real-world sense. After the benefit concert, they decide how to allocate the funds. Ideas of where the funds are most needed are procured through the students as well as a form those in need may fill out.
